Dust suppression through wetting

Wetting broken or fractured material helps dust particles stay attached to this material and minimises release in to the air. The addition of water on a mine site can be difficult to manage and it is often difficult to obtain the quantity of water required to suppress dust. As a result, the design of any wetting dust suppression system is vital.

Dust suppression through airborne capture

Airborne capture of dust particles is an alternative although sometimes complementary method of dust suppression to wetting. Using high pressure water sprays with specifically designed droplet size and under conditions of high uniformity, dust particles can be captured and effectively ‘taken out’ of the air to be held within falling water droplets. Increasing dust suppression effectiveness

Wetting agents can increase the effectiveness of a limited supply of water and foam has been proven to be very effective in capturing dust particles.
